Need to Know- Tick Information
Dogs are very susceptible to tick bites and tickborne diseases. Vaccines are not available for most of the tickborne diseases that dogs can get, and they don’t keep the dogs from bringing ticks into your home. For these reasons, it’s important to use a tick preventive product on your dog. Tick bites on dogs may be hard to detect.

Why yard sprays are critical
If you and your family are at high risk of tick infestation, or just seeing one, we highly recommend getting your yard sprayed every 90days, and if you are a landlord looking to rent your property, we recommend spraying your lawn from March through December to ease any worries. Tick-infested deer, rabbits, rodents, and birds are visiting your property often and leaving ticks behind when they do. Spray applications are scheduled every 90 days (April through November) and each spray is highly effective with in the 90 days.
This past winter was VERY mild, which is one of the reasons ticks are in abundance this year, most people believe that the cold winter kills ticks, but adult black-legged ticks (aka deer ticks) are NOT killed by freezing temperatures. When temperatures are above 32 degrees Fahrenheit, deer ticks are active, moving and searching for blood and if you get bit, you’re at risk of catching Lyme disease, babesiosis, anaplasmosis, relapsing fever or even catching the new Powassan virus.
Take Precautions and get the tick applications starting in April thru November every 90 days, as long as there is no snow and tempts are 40 degrees or more these pesky things are on the move for their next victim. So please keep every family member, from pets to kids all the way to the elderly safe.
Need to Know Browntail Moth:
Hairs from the caterpillars are toxic for humans, causing a poison ivy-like itchy rash of up to sometimes weeks-long duration due to mechanical and chemical irritation. Direct contact with larvae is not necessary, as the hairs are shed and can become windblown. Toxins in the hairs remain potent for up to three years. Outdoor activities such as mowing a lawn or raking leaves in the fall can cause exposure.
